About TCS
Who We Are
Twin Cities Skaters (TCS) is a roller skating collective bringing pop-up skate experiences, lessons, performances, and rentals to spaces across the Twin Cities.
By partnering with parks, local venues, festivals, and community organizations, TCS transforms everyday spaces into places where people can roll, learn, and celebrate movement together. Programming ranges from beginner lessons and community skate nights to workshops, private events, and live performances.
The TCS community includes people from many skating traditions—jam, artistic, derby, hockey, freestyle—as well as those stepping onto wheels for the very first time. Regardless of experience level, everyone is welcome.
At its core, TCS exists to create joyful, inclusive spaces where skating becomes a way to connect, express creativity, and stay active.
How It Started
Twin Cities Skaters began as a passion project in 2018, when a small group of skating enthusiasts started organizing informal skate nights and community gatherings around the city. What began with thrift-store skates and a pickup truck gradually grew into a grassroots effort to keep rollerskating visible and accessible within the Twin Cities.
During the early months of the pandemic in 2020, outdoor skate meetups in parks and around the lakes brought people together at a time when many gyms and skating facilities were closed. These gatherings offered a way for people to stay active, find community, and rediscover the simple joy of skating.
As the community grew, TCS expanded into lessons, workshops, events, performances, and partnerships with local venues and organizations.
